The DREW Collection | LISTEN TO ME NOW, BELIEVE ME LATER ON

November 1 - December 14, 2025
Listen to Me Now, Believe Me Later On: An Exhibition of Art, Various Works, & Rare Pieces from the DREW Collection includes artworks by Hebru Brantley, Brandon Deener, Shaniqwa Jarvis, Harmonia Rosales and many more —accompanied by rare literature, collectibles and ephemera that celebrate the power of Black culture — serves as a call to action, and illuminates how collecting is essential to the protection and preservation of our stories, gifts and contributions.

“Inspired by a Kerry James Marshall interview about the absence of Black figures in art history, this exhibition reflects on a parallel absence. Black collectors in the art world.

Too often, collecting is framed as an activity reserved for the wealthy. This narrative can alienate those without generational wealth or high-profile careers. The truth is, collecting begins not with a wallet, but with an attitude. With curiosity. With conversation.

Listen to Me Now, Believe Me Later On is an invitation. A cultural call to action. A reminder that regular folk collect art too, and that we must normalize that fact. Through visibility, conversation, and shared knowledge, we can shift the narrative, reclaim the collector’s role, and build a continuous cycle of cultural investment, reflection, and representation.”
