DAMIEN CARTER | SLAUCIENEGA
The exhibition marks Damien Carter’s solo debut and is curated by Khalil Kinsey and Larry Earl. Carter’s work offers an up close and nuanced view of his hometown, capturing the gritty and glamorous essence of the city in a manner that defies erasure and exploitation. Carter, who grew up less than a mile from the gallery, is known for his broad scope of commercial work across multiple mediums, lending his keen eye to brands and companies such as Apple, Jordan Brand, Beats by Dre, NFL Network, Fox Sports, Adidas, and Footlocker. He has worked with a diverse array of talent such as Sha’Carri Richardson, Kanye West, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin and Killer Mike, among others.

EXHIBITON
October 13, 2023, Context Projects opened its doors to the View Park Windsor Hills community, serving as the only black-owned fine arts gallery in the neighborhood dedicated to showcasing artists of color.
“also known as SlauCienega: The Photography of Damien Carter” attracted a litany of who's who from the world of culture and politics.
To complement the gallery, a SlauCienega boutique pop-up shop allowed guests to purchase limited edition merch including apparel, prints & collectibles with sounds from Like of Pac Div & DJ S Dot. Westside Winos partners kept the wine flowing with special selections from their portfolio.
Context Projects & SlauCienega would like to thank the View Park Windsor Hills community and those who came out to support black art and culture.

A VISUAL LOVE LETTER TO THE ANGELS
To celebrate the opening ceremony of his inaugural show, SlauCienega created a multi-media story, showcasing what makes the City of Angeles a culturally rich heritage so special—the people, the views, the vibe.
Check out the love letter featuring fellow LA native and jazz great, Terrace Martin.
